Sport (Coaching, Development and Fitness) BTEC Level 3 Diploma/ Extended Diploma

Sport (Coaching, Development and Fitness) Level 3 programmes offer you the opportunity to develop an understanding of the sport and fitness sectors and help prepare you for a career or higher education in a variety of areas including teaching, exercise and fitness, coaching and leadership and sports development. The Level 3 Extended Diploma is made up of 18 study units and the BTEC Level 3 Diploma is made up of 12 study units. You will learn about anatomy and physiology in sport, fitness testing, training and programming, organising sports events, practical sport, safe and effective sport coaching, sport development, sports injuries and sports nutrition. You have the opportunity to tailor your sport programme through course enrichment pathway activities. Students choosing the teaching and coaching pathway could study for a CSLA and HSLA award. Students choosing the exercise and fitness pathway could study for a YMCA Gym Instructor Award. Students choosing the physical activity and health pathway may be able to study sports massage.

Entry requirements

Although you are not expected to buy specific clothing, you can purchase college sweatshirts and t- shirts if you wish. You will need to bring appropriate kit for indoor and outdoor activities. You will be expected to contribute towards the cost of trips and visits and to pay for your DBS check. You may be entitled to help with this from the college’s Learner Support Fund.
