This is a popular music course covering a variety of genres from 1950 to the present day. You have the opportunity to study across a variety of musical disciplines and develop practical skills in performance, composition, sequencing, recording and improvisation. The course also allows you to develop your theoretical understanding of music providing the opportunity to develop your sight-reading, aural perception skills and ability to communicate ideas effectively to other musicians. You will have the opportunity to develop instrumental skills through weekly lessons in guitar, keyboard, vocals or drums. On your programme you will study for Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths qualifications, if you do not already hold a minimum GCSE grade C. As part of our study programme all students are expected to take part in our Wednesday afternoon enrichment offer. Students are able to choose from approximately 40 options which help build skills and attributes that employers and universities are seeking in their applicants.
