This course gives you an introduction to the world of business and administration. It will help you to understand how businesses work and how they affect your life and the role you play as a customer and consumer. You will also learn about the use of IT in business and how to use it when working in a business environment. You will study the following topics: • Working in business administration • Using computers in business • Communicating in business • Ideas for small businesses The course includes practical work-related activities. You will develop your employability skills including communication skills, team working, time management and the ability to work in an independent and professional way. In addition to your BTEC qualification you will study for qualifications in English and Maths and a Personal and Social Development qualification. There is the opportunity to take a work experience placement in a real business environment. Some of your assignments will be based on this work placement. Course enrichment activities include visits to local businesses and team building events in the Peak District.
