Course description Develop your creative skills and understanding of the exciting world of textiles. You will build a portfolio of samples using different techniques. You will look at how to be creative with designs and then progress into planning and making a piece to your own design. Throughout the course you will build a portfolio of work. About the tutor Lisa is a designer-maker specialising in knitted, felted and stitched products, which she sells. Using a range of textile skills including machine knitting. Course content and outcomes While your personal objectives will be discussed and agreed at the first session, you can expect that during the course you will learn to: • Produce samples that show understanding of a range of fabric structures, such as weave, felt and knit. • Identify and explore the characteristics of fabrics to maximise their creative use. • Understand and use a range of designs featuring different techniques from, fabric painting, print, appliqué and stitch. • Plan and make a final item. in the later part of the course. • Build a working record of each creative journey. How will I learn? Through tutor demonstrations and practical work. The tutor will give group and individual instruction, encouragement and advice.
