A two year course to complete A Level, or one year to complete AS Level. You will make a range of graphic design work which may include some or all of the following: £ graphics for the music industry, CD design and promotional material £ graphics for the printed page such as magazines and books, learning how to construct a page and using interesting composition and type £ packaging for particular products or companies, learning how to communicate messages to your audience and how to stand out in an over-crowded supermarket £ advertising; how to promote a product using colour, shock or humour £ computer animation Students will have access to high spec PCs and printing facilities as well as more traditional art and design facilities in the Art department. These will include mono, lino and screen printing. Successful students exhibit the ability to communicate messages through visual means. They work to a brief and are clear about the client£s and audience requirements. They are prepared to be open-minded and imaginative in their approaches to making design and are very good at making and sourcing their own primary evidence. Successful students work in their own time, developing their work, researching artists and building their design skills. Critical contextual understanding may be demonstrated through written, visual, oral or other appropriate forms. The exam work and the course work will be externally moderated in June.
