To bring together practical farming skills with associated knowledge. It is designed to offer progression to the City & Guilds Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture and to produce agricultural employees able to work effectively and efficiently in the farming industry. Approximately half of the programme is practical work taking place on the College farm plus visits to a number of local farms and businesses. The course includes the following topic areas: £Tractor and farm machinery operation and maintenance £Farm livestock husbandry including pigs, sheep and dairy £Arable crop, grassland and forage crop husbandry The course includes a three week period of work experience. During your time at College there is the opportunity to take skills qualifications in a range of practical areas which may include operation of tractors, rough terrain lift trucks, ATVs, and livestock welfare. Functional skills are also taught within the course. These concentrate on further developing numeracy, communication and Information Technology skills.
