A two year course to complete A Level, or one year to complete AS Level. You will explore the Media through a study of genre, narrative, representation and audience. This will include an analysis of traditional media (eg film, music, TV, news) as well as digital media and their construction of social / cultural groups and events. You will demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skills in Media production processes through research, planning, production and evaluation. You will produce three pieces of linked work. You can expect interesting and thought provoking lessons which are lively and engaging: £ Lessons will contain a combination of individual, group-work and teacher led activities £ Practical work opportunities £ Regular homework In order to make the most of the course and the lessons a significant commitment is required from you: £ You need to keep up with your regular homework assignments £ Attend all lessons £ Be willing to share ideas and listen to others in class £ You must be prepared to work independently with guidance from your tutor Use your time to plan effectively. You£ll need to be prepared to use a significant amount of time outside of lessons to make the most of the practical coursework. Trips are regularly organised for students both at home and abroad. Recent residential trips have included Prague, Berlin and New York. The department have also arranged a number of big projects to enrich and give students more opportunities outside of the classroom including feature film project and a site specific documentary project.
