To provide a good foundation in sport and cover a wide range of subjects related to outdoor activities. The course is very practical and students are expected to participate in a variety of sports such as climbing (indoor and outdoor), mountain biking and kayaking together with some team sports. There will also be opportunities for planning and participating in expeditions. The course focuses on fitness testing and training and practical sport activities. Specialist units include: £Anatomy and physiology for sport £Planning and leading outdoor and adventurous activities £Expedition experience £Development of personal fitness £Nutrition for sports performance The course could include additional skills and qualifications such as BCU Kayaking Stars, Emergency First Aid, Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Sports Leadership Award to enhance your employability and your CV. There may be an additional charge and students should budget approximately £100.
