This is a level 5 course validated by Edexcel. It complies with the new overarching professional standards in initial teacher training required of all teachers entering the sector after 2001. The rationale for the programme is to equip teacher trainees with the initial knowledge and practical skills required for teaching in the post compulsory sector. This course is designed for students with a full teaching role, meaning a teaching role that carries the full range of teaching responsibilities and requires the teacher to demonstrate an extensive range of knowledge, understanding and application of curriculum innovation or curriculum delivery strategies in the post compulsory sector. This course is not appropriate for those in a training or instructing role.
