There are more than 32 million vehicles on the UK's roads, and we need plenty of technicians to keep them running. Motor vehicle technicians service, repair and replace parts of all types of vehicles, from mopeds to lorries. As an apprentice, you could work for a dealership and focus on a particular manufacturer, or work for an independent garage that deals with all different makes. In both, you'll choose your area of specialisation, whether that is motorcycles or vehicle electrical systems. You will be carrying out routine maintenance and basic repairs, as well as identifying and reporting faults
