Course Description: During this course you will find out more about community organisations and how to develop work experience through working in a voluntary position. This is a course aimed at Job Centre Plus clients or clients on Work Programme who are in receipt of ESA although it may be offered to other groups. The course leads to the Open Awards Entry 3 Award in Skills for Further Learning and Employment. It is a three day programme. Most participants are referred to the course, either via Job Centre Plus or a Work Programme provider, but the course is open to anyone who is looking for work and in receipt of a state benefit (including National Insurance credits only) Please bring photographic proof of identity to your first session. If you don’t have photographic ID please bring two other forms of identity eg Bank card, Bank statement, utility bill, Council tax bill Attendance at ALL sessions is essential. If you miss a session you may be asked to leave the course. What will I learn? • What voluntary organisations are ? The role of a volunteer within an organisation ? How to identify voluntary positions ? How to become a volunteer, including applying for a position ? Recognising your qualities, skills, interests and achievements
