Course Description: Acrylics have become a very popular medium and both the beginner and more experienced student can benefit from this course in a relaxed and friendly environment. There will be clear demonstrations relating to the various components of landscape, including skies, trees, water and foreground. Projects will be provided after initial discussion to vote on around 5 topics for a scheme of work. Assistance will be given in acquiring the techniques demonstrated together with some drawing tuition. Learners wishing to use this medium in 'still life' work will also be accommodated with a variety of different 'set ups' available to study. Learners will be taught how to: Select materials with confidence, identifying different types of supports, both acrylic and watercolour paints and brushes Use a range of texture techniques including; impasto/scraffito for acrylics, and stipple and dry brush in watercolour. Use glazes in your work Use lifting out and scratching out techniques with a range of tools Understand and apply the rules of line and colour perspective Produce a variety of sample and full landscape and still life scenes Work safely in an art room environment
