Course Description: During this course you will develop your confidence and also your employability skills – skills for seeking, applying for and being interviewed for work or training. This is a course aimed at those seeking work and is particularly suitable for those who are in receipt of ESA. The course leads to the Open Awards Level 1 Award in Skills for Further Learning and Employment. It is a two week part time programme. Most participants are referred to the course, either via Job Centre Plus or a Work Programme provider, but the course is open to anyone who is looking for work and in receipt of a state benefit (including National Insurance credits only) Please bring photographic proof of identity to your first session. If you don’t have photographic ID please bring two other forms of identity eg Bank card, Bank statement, utility bill, Council tax bill Attendance at ALL sessions is essential. If you miss a session you may be asked to leave the course. What will I learn? ? Identify what makes people confident ? How communication skills can contribute to improving confidence ? Decision making and associated emotions and feelings ? Increasing confidence through setting goals and targets ? What is involved in job search and applying for work ? Match your personal skills and abilities with different jobs ? Improve your interview skills
