This course will introduce you to a range of art and design disciplines, where you will be able to build a portfolio to showcase your skills for job interviews or applications to higher education. It consists of seven core units and offers a mixture of practice and theory, highlighting visual and wider introductory, contextual and daignostic studies. You will have the choice to specialise in one of our seven areas of study: Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion and Textiles, Illustration, 3D Design and Craft and Photography. This enables you to gain a refined understanding of a particular area of the profession. This course is delivered through a combination of studio and workshop practice, guided assignments, tutorials, seminars and lectures. A considerable amount of personal study and research will be required. By taking responsibility for independant learning and managing time effectively, this course will provide an excellent springboard to future study and progress towards careers objectives or further study. The course begins with a visit to a museum/art gallery that provides artwork for the first two units. There is also an educational visit abroad that provides students with the inspiration to enhance their portfolio material.
