This is a two year preparation course for those with an interest in joining one of the uniformed public services and equates to 3 A levels. You will take part in practical assignments which will develop your leadership skills, personal discipline and teamwork alongside developing your theoretical knowledge in the classroom. You will study a mix of core and specialist units each year the specialist units focus on areas relating to human rights, criminal justice system and outdoor activities. Fitness and teamwork are essential for employment in the services and you will be expected to reach the standard for entry into the public services during the course. The tutors have experience of work within public services including police, army, airforce and navy. This will give you a real insight into these areas of work which help you to become more employable. You will also have the opportunity to attend several residential courses where you will gain an insight into public service life. Units studied will include: Citizenship and Diversity Leadership and Teamwork Command and Control Employment and Career Planning Physical Preparation for the Services Aspects of the Legal System Outdoor and Adventurous Expeditions Police Powers Responding to Emergency Incidents Government and Policies Opportunities to attend residential courses gaining insight into uniformed public service life.
