This pathway focuses on dogs and other pets such as cats, guinea pigs and rabbits. While the main focus is on dogs and companion animals, a full range of animals are considered in order to develop the skills to care for, handle and manage a variety of animals. This variety of knowledge is needed for a career in the animal care or animal management industries as well as degree level study. This course has been designed to prepare students for a range of business and career opportunities linked to working with dogs and companion animals. It covers subjects such as: ? Kennel and Cattery Management ? Animal Behaviour ? Animal Grooming ? Animal Training ? Business Management ? Welfare and Breed Development ? Breeding and Genetics ? Business Planning ? Pet Store Management ? Exotic Animals There are lectures, talks from guest speakers, visits, practical sessions in the animal unit and work related experience. Your work is assessed continually throughout the course.
