A plasterer will work on anything from new-build housing, commercial developments to major restoration projects. The college is pleased to offer the solid full plastering pathway which will include producing internal solid plastering finishes and external solid render finishes. A plasterer will be practical, hands on person who find enjoyment from creating a great finish to a building project. The course is based on day release (1 day per week) at the Isle campus in Wisbech. The rest of the time will be on site with the employer. The NVQ requires the apprentice to complete a log of specific work carried out on site and can consist of reports, photographs, peer reports, drawings, diagrams etc. Site assessment visits will be carried out by tutors and the work is then assessed in college. The diploma provides the underpinning knowledge for the practical work as well as practical assessments of plastering projects designed and created in the college workshops, plus unit tests throughout the 2 year course. There is a range of multiple choice, on line examinations, as well as a health and safety examination, both of which must be passed before the diploma is achieved.
