This apprenticeship is aimed at people who wish to gain experience and qualifications in engineering through practical and theoretical skills and work based activities. Examples of suitable roles are fabrication, welding, mechanical production and maintenance. Within the ILA in Improving Operational Performance it can be possible to cover a range of engineering activities including computer aided design, welding and machining. This will depend on the selected pathway of learning and employer requirements. Apprentices will complete the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations which is assessed through a portfolio of workshop activities and theory. The technical certificate comprises of modules that underpin the apprentice's knowledge and understanding of engineering.
