The course is aimed at those students who wish to pursue a career in professional photography or who want to progress to higher education. The course gives you the opportunity to explore photography in a contemporary and progressive manner. You will learn to use the camera as a tool of documentation and expression supported by the technical aspects of camera techniques, black and white, and colour work, image manipulation for both indoor and outdoor location work. Related studies explore the issues of visual communication, history of art and design and computer applications. Students will also follow other subject related qualifications with this course. Year one - Studio module in camera formats - Films and processing - Black and white printing - Lighting - Practical assignments (mixed media) - Digital imaging Additional areas covered are computer/design skills, historical studies and technical studies. Year two A negotiated programme of study based upon individual needs/areas of interests. There are also optional modules in - Landscape/documentary photography - outside visits/workshops - Colour processing and printing - Portraiture/fashion/documentary - Fashion Additional areas covered are technical studies, digital imaging, critical theory, drawing and video. Throughout both years there is regular tutorial support. Functional skills will be delivered as part of the programme.
