The course provides suitable qualifications for school leavers interested in a career in one of the Uniformed Services, e.g. Ambulance, Fire, Police, Army, Navy, Royal Marines & Royal Air Force Diploma in Public Services Units assessed are - Career planning - Public service employment - Public service skills - Public service fitness - Land navigation - Crime and it's effects NCFE Foundation Certificate in Outdoor Industry This qualification gives students the opportunity to experience various aspects of the outdoor industry. It includes the following unit criteria - Identify opportunities for vocational development and employment within the outdoor industry - Develop a personal effectiveness profile and action plan - Participate in the delivery of an outdoor activity session Physical Training Is designed to help students increase their levels of fitness in order to ensure they have the ability to successfully pass a Uniformed Services fitness test. This will include running, circuit training and fitness training in a weights room. There will also be many opportunities to participate in team activities. Other Opportunities Visiting service speakers/visits to service establishments and inter-group competitions. A weeks adventure training is held each year in places such as Wales. Students are encouraged to attend. Visits to Service Establishments Local Fire, Police, Ambulance Stations, Police Firearms, Wymondham Police HQ, Colchester Garrison (Army), Wayland Prison, RAF Marham, Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, HMS Bristol, Portsmouth and Belfast. Overnight Exercises Exercises involving all students take part periodically at, for example, RAF West Raynham, Thetford Forest, Thorpe Woodland and local areas. This will include the Go Ape High Ropes course.
