The course is designed to develop work based skills predominantly in a series of practical areas. The nationally recognised qualification gained is structured to allow learners to develop practical skills and knowledge in a supported environment .The curriculum allows for experience in the motor vehicle workshop aspects of which include Health and Safety /working safely in an engineering environment. All learners are also given the opportunity to participate in an enterprise programme and sit a functional skill exam suited to their ability.

Learners are assessed on an individual basis by the tutor and through the verification of completed portfolio units. The online PDP system allows for the learner to log in and view their progress and targets so they are always aware of their achievement to date. Three annual reviews and regular staff meetings ensure that the assessment and review process continues to map individual progression.
