The course is intended for anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in the music industry whether as a performer, administrator or technician. This course is designed to introduce you to the music industry. It is work related and this will be reflected in the broad based content. The course is made up of a number of units which offer a general background to the music industry and introduce students to a variety of subject areas. Students will also follow other subject related qualifications with this course. The course may include the following units - Aural perception skills - Improvising music - Major music project - Music and society - The sound and music industry - Composing music - Live music workshop - Modern music in practice - Music and sound for moving image - Music performance session styles - Music performance techniques - Music production techniques - Pop music in practice - Sequencing systems and techniques - Music in the community - The music freelance world - Working and developing as a musical ensemble Students will be expected to attend the college gigs and this will involve some late nights.
