The Paint Repair Apprentice Framework covers many skills including the painting of various body panels and components to complex tasks including panel repairs and water based paint schemes using the latest technology, tools and equipment. An Apprenticeship is a vocational, work-based programme that demonstrates competence and knowledge. With a combination of on-the-job training and assessments, and training through an approved body, Apprenticeships demonstrate the individual’s competence to do a job to a national standard. In addition to the core Apprenticeship framework requirements, there are separate requirements which include, Maths, English, ICT, Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS). Start of a work-based Level 2 Apprenticeship career that can lead onto employment as a Vehicle Refinishing Technician for applicants who successfully complete the course. Use of measuring equipment required in vehicle refinishing. Vehicle preparation to accept foundation paint coats. Mixing of foundation paint coats. Application of foundation paint coats. Health and safety awareness in a vehicle refinishing workshop. Working within groups and as an individual. Responsibilities for personal actions taken. Painting and finishing new and repaired vehicles using spray, brush and transfer techniques.
