This course develops an understanding of the importance of effective Accounting information systems and an awareness of their limitations. It is useful for those who wish to progress into the world of Business and/or Accounting. You will develop knowledge and skills in problem-solving and decision-making and an understanding of the purposes, principles, concepts and techniques of Accounting. You will learn to appreciate the effects of economic, legal, ethical, social, environmental and technological influences on Accounting decisions. This will allow you to present arguments, make judgements and justify recommendations.

There will be two written exams at the end of the first year (AS Level), each lasting one and a half hours and comprising four compulsory structured questions.
