Cake, Bake and Decorate How will this course help me? Develop confidence in cake baking & decoration. Who is the course for? Learners who enjoy baking, decorating cakes and pastries. What can I expect to learn? Induction to the course content and Enrolment. Familiarisation of the Kitchen. Health and Safety issues. Tutor Demonstration. You will be become: Confident in weighing ingredients accurately. Identify and use different methods of cake and pastry making. Develop skills in the decoration of cakes and pastries. Tutor Demonstrations of different Cake and Pastry making methods. Recipes linking to seasonal themes. Practical baking sessions. Decoration Techniques. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? Learners will need to provide a clean apron, their ingredients on a weekly basis, and bring a suitable container or tin for the safe transportation of baked items home. Some cake tins / pie dishes may also be required. Advice will be given by the tutor. Will there be any other costs? You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning.
