Introduction to permaculture How will this course help me? This is an introduction to the principles and ethos of permaculture, the holistic way to plan space and projects. Who is the course for? Anyone wanting to learn the basics of permaculture – no previous knowledge required What can I expect to Learn? What is permaculture? Permaculture ethics Permaculture principles Permaculture gardening Forest gardening Input output analysis Design tool and exercise Next steps How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. Your tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? Please bring warm weatherproof durable clothing and outdoor footwear, or sun protection if it is sunny You should bring a pen/pencil and notebook and a camera if you have one. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.? You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee. What can I do next? You may wish to explore other garden and wildlife courses available at the Eco Centre.
