Bike maintenance for all – introduction How will this course help me? You will learn how to keep your bike in good working order and fix a flat tyre. Who is the course for? This course is for beginners. What can I expect to learn? Routine maintenance and recognising when your bicycle needs fixing The importance of correct cleaning and lubrication of your bike after each ride. Carry out simple repairs such as changing an inner tube, fixing punctures and more Diagnose simple problems and those that need a professional fix. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? Please bring a bike that is in working order to do some maintenance work on, and any tools that you may have (though they will be provided). Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee.
