CIEH Award in Food Safety in Catering Level 2 How will this course help me? This course will provide food handlers with fundamental food safety knowledge. Who is the course for? This course is for anyone working in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled. What can I expect to learn? This course will cover: Legislation Food safety hazards Temperature control Refrigeration, chilling and cold handling Cooking, hot holding and reheating Food handling Principles of safe food storage Cleaning Food premises and equipment. Students will gain the confidence and expertise to safely deliver quality food to customers. How will I learn? This course can be delivered over 1 or 2 days. There are a variety of activities which cover all the necessary information you need to successfully complete this qualification. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. At the end of the course, there is a short multiple choice examination which is externally marked. Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate from CIEH. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? All of the skills learnt will benefit you both in and outside of the workplace giving you the information to deal with food safely. What will I need to provide? Please bring a pen and paper to take notes and a folder to keep any handouts. Also bring photo identification with you on the first session for exam purposes. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee including the awarding body fees and books to take away.
