Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) How will this course help me? This course meets the new government standards for working in the Early Years sector. You will obtain the most up to date Early Years qualification enabling you to work in Early Year’s settings in a Supervisory capacity. Who is the course for? To enrol onto this course you must Have GCSE English & Maths at grade C or above Attend a Childcare Information Session Spend a minimum of 5 hours a week in a work placement in an early years setting with children under the age of 5 You should have a Level 2 Childcare qualification and at least one year’s recent experience of working / volunteering with children. What can I expect to learn? The Early Years Educator qualification prepares learners to know, understand and be able to become Early Years Educators (EYE), enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 in the Early Years foundation Stage and to gain an understanding of child development from 5 to 7 years. The qualification will require learners to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of early years and care. How will I learn? Through research and then demonstrating this within your practice. Group discussion within the class, putting this into practice. Shadowing colleagues within your setting. Tutor taught sessions Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? Yes, at least 5 hours a week, this could be researching or reading relevant articles within childcare. Writing up work from your placement and work set from class sessions. What will I need to provide? Learners will need to bring: their original DBS (CRB) form and a pen, paper and A4 ring binder a completed additional information form a placement reference form You will also have to attend a Childcare information session Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.)
