Introduction to ESOL How will this course help me? This is an introductory course for people who wish to learn English. The course is for learners who do not speak English as their first language. Who is the course for? This course is for anyone wanting to learn how to speak and write in English What can I expect to Learn? How to speak English How to write and recognise English words, sentences, paragraphs, grammar, etc. How to converse in English How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? Prior to the course you will have a confidential interview and assessment. You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? You will need to bring a notebook and pen. You may also need a translation dictionary. Will there be any other costs? You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee. What can I do next?
