Cookery - Delicious Meals on a Budget How will this course help me? Gain knowledge & skills to make delicious & nutritious meals on a limited budget. Who is the course for? Anyone wishing to learn how to cook delicious meals, reduce waste and save money. What can I expect to Learn? Identifying the reasons why we need to reduce waste Understanding ways to keep food edible for longer Improving food shopping strategies Planning meals using leftovers and with appropriate portions and content Preparation of own “ready meals” An understanding of the Love Food Hate Waste campaign and access to its resources. Copies of recipes will be available to take home. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? You can bring a notebook and pen if they wish. You will need a clean apron and you will be expected to provide your own ingredients on a weekly basis. Your tutor will discuss this with you each week. You will also need to bring a suitable container for carrying the completed dish home. Will there be any other costs? You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning.
