Trimmer and brushcutter operations – Lantra level 2 How will this course help me? To develop your skills to use and maintain a brushcutter safely and efficiently. Who is the course for? Beginners and those who have a basic knowledge and skill in brushcutting/trimming who would like a qualification. What can I expect to learn? To carry out a risk assessment Health and safety legislation About appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for trimmer and brushcutter operations The health and safety features of the equipment being used How to maintain the trimmer / brushcutter How to operate a trimmer / brushcutter Different operating techniques How to store equipment safely and appropriately How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. Your tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? You will need to wear warm, weatherproof, durable clothing as well as steel toe capped boots (preferably) or other heavy duty work boots. Other personal protective equipment will be supplied as appropriate. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee.
