Introduction to garden design How will this course help me? To come up with an exciting makeover plan for your garden. Who is the course for? Beginners. What can I expect to learn? How to assess what you’ve got To decide what you want from your space About hard landscape About plants & planting design How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. Your tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? Bring photos of your garden and measurements. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee. The fees advertised for courses at Derbyshire Eco Centre are inclusive of materials and exam costs where these apply. What can I do next? You may want to progress to further introductory gardening, land based or small holding skills, or one of our qualification courses in this area.
