CIEH Award in Emergency First Aid at Work Level 2 How will this course help me? You will gain the skills and knowledge to deal with first aid situations in low risk environments such as shops and offices. Who is the course for? If you are suffering from any of the following medical problems or conditions please check with your GP before starting the course: back, neck, arm or knee problems, rupture or hernia, chest problems, seizures or epilepsy. There will be floor work involved when the recovery position and CPR are covered and some conditions may prevent you completing the course. What can I expect to learn? The course will include understanding the role of the First Aider in the workplace including reference to: Assessment of situations and circumstances in order to act safely in an emergency situation Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Unconscious casualties, including seizures Choking Shock Preventing cross-infection The need to record incidents and actions Use of available equipment Providing appropriate first aid for minor injuries How will I learn? There is a mixture of practical work and assessments throughout the course. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. There is an Assessment Booklet issued by CIEH to complete throughout the course and this will include testing on practical procedures. All of the skills learnt will benefit you both in and outside of the workplace giving you the confidence to deal with low-risk first aid situations. What will I need to provide? Please bring a pen and paper to take notes and wear comfortable clothing to enable easy movement for practical work as you will need to be able to get onto the floor. Will there be any other costs? All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee including the awarding body fees and books to take away.
