Pottery for Beginners How will this course help me? You will develop the skills to work with clay to produce a variety of individually designed pieces of work in a friendly and informal environment. Who is the course for? Beginners to the subject and those with some experience. Learners are given the support they require for their individual development What can I expect to Learn? Tools and techniques to produce simple pieces Slab pots, Coil pots Basic and figurative sculpture Glazes and finishing Wheel work Modelling Health & Safety. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? At induction and enrolment on to the course you will be advised of any materials you may need to bring for your first session. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee. What can I do next? A variety of courses are available. Discuss your next steps with your tutor or the Centre staff.
