How long is the course? This course runs for 34 weeks on Mondays, 11.00am - 6.00pm. The course has two start dates per year: • Monday 1 September 2014 or • Monday 2 March 2015 Personal presentation plays a very important part in the process of becoming a competent barber. You should also possess creative skills and an interest in fashion. Genuine enthusiasm for working towards gaining skills to become a competent barber is also necessary. You should enjoy communication with members of the general public and should have a commitment to intensive training. You will need to have some prior Barbering experience and be able to provide models for assessment purposes. What qualification will I achieve? VRQ Diploma Level 3 in Barbering What will I study? This is an intensive training programme allowing you to obtain a VRQ Diploma Level 3. You will study the following units: • Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon • Consultation support for colleagues on hair services • Colour hair to create a variety of looks • Cut men’s hair to create a variety of looks • Cut facial hair to create a variety of looks • Creative hairdressing design • Colour correction • Human resource management You will also be required to participate in compulsory in-house College competitions.
