This course is intended for students who are interested in the handmaking skills of metalworking, jewellery making, and stone setting. Students will learn how to forge metal using hammers and shaping tools to create beautiful and dynamic jewellery forms. Students will use soldering techniques in order to fabricate complex jewelelry from multiple elements and finaly will use stone setting techniques to complete their designs. , , Students will design and make metal jewellery (precious, and non precious) in a craft based studio environment.This course will benefit thosae who already have jewellery making experince but is also open to all levels. Beginners will be given short structured projects in jewellery design and making skills that will introduce the basic methods of jewelelry making. More experienced jewellery makers will have the chance to experiment with more complex fabrication, surface pattern, casting, and setting techniques.,

The workshop is fully stocked with all of the equipment a beginner might need. If you are already familiar with jewellery making then you may bring any of your own tools with the exception of chemicals., In general it is good to bring a sketchbook and pencils, as well as a box or container to transport your on-going jewellery work in. , The course provides some materials free as part of the course content. This includes copper, brass, and acrylic sheets as well as many of the chemicals, enamels, and other materials that a jeweller may require. Silver and other precious metals are not provided free of charge. For beginners silver can be purchased from the tutor at cost price in the form of wire and sheet depending on the project. Students who are already experienced will be instructed on how to purchase any materials that they might need.
