This course provides you with the opportunity to develop and practice academic skills such as reading, discussing, giving presentations and above all writing. You will be exposed to various forms of writing, such as note taking, summary, essays, reports, reviews as well as to academic conventions, in particular referencing, paraphrasing and using quotations. There will also be language input in this course relating to punctuation, grammar and style. The course is recommended for motivated students preparing to take up Access to HE or university education through other pathways. These are short one term courses but you will be given an option of continuing throughout the three terms. Students must be at Level 2 or above.
