Continue to learn the basics of the exciting world of African drumming: hand techniques, rhythm patterns from across Africa, cross-rhythms, and how to groove in a group. Students will learn some basic playing techniques for African drums, and how to apply these techniques to playing patterns from the vibrant drumming traditions of specific African cultures. Students will get the chance to play the rhythms in a group setting to experience cross-rhythms and develop timing, groove and listening skills. This three Sunday course (African Drumming 1 / 2 / 3) gives an opportunity for more depth than previous introductory sessions.
