The Plate Tutu is a very short, stiff skirt made with layers of tulle that extends straight out from the hips in a flat plate shape and is really a couture dress made for a ballerina. It has more layers of net than other forms of tutu and usually uses a wire hoop and hand tacking to keep the layers flat. It was developed to show off the ballerina’s pointe work and is worn with a fitted bodice. , Working with multiple layers of tulle, this is a rare opportunity to gain the specialist skills used to produce these unique garments. This four-day course can be taken alone or together with the ‘Boned Ballet Bodice’ running in the spring term., You must have reached an intermediate level of experience working with patterns and constructing garments. Some study in your own time is required if you wish to take full advantage of the course,
