Vintage 40s & 50s: From Utility Clothing to the New Look

During the 1940s, clothing design was restricted by supply both here and in the US until the arrival of the luxurious and corseted New Look by Christian Dior which promoted an exaggerated feminine silhouette reminiscent of the late 18th century. The 1950’s exploded with renewed emphasis on creativity by desingers such as Charles James. At the same time, popular culture produced rock’n’roll and fashion began to develop a younger audience. , , Use this opportunity to develop your interest in the clothes of this period. Produce your own vintage styles or to add a vintage feel to your clothes. , , Experience of using patterns and good sewing skills are required to benefit from this course.,

Entry requirements
