Is it for me? If you are looking to start a career in the construction industry but either don't know, or don't want to, specialise in a particular trade then this course will provide you with a general introduction to many of the areas covered within construction. What does the course involve? You will work towards achieving a City and Guilds qualification at Level 1, as well as gaining employability skills to prepare you for attending work experience within the construction industry; this will enable you to put what you have learnt into practice. As part of the course you will also study Maths and English (if required.) Practical activities and experiences include: Developing your knowledge and skills in plumbing, brick work, joinery and painting and decorating. There are also events where we enter learners into local competitions with other training providers. You will attend suitable work experience placements where you will gain added knowledge from the operatives you work with. What can I progress onto? You may wish to start a Level 2 qualification, with the aim of progressing onto an apprenticeship within the construction industry.
