The foundation diploma in art and design is a pivotal qualification which provides a transition from general education to specialist art and design education. You will be encouraged to become more experimental and risk taking in your approach, develop your thinking and idea generation skills/strategies and it will open you up to new ways of working with materials and techniques. You will also be expected to consider your ‘Studentship’; these are the personal study skills required to make you a success. It will enable you to make an informed decision if you wish to apply to art and design higher education, prepare you for work/ apprenticeships or broaden your outlook and skills if you wish to complete it prior to a degree in another field.
