CL75, CL76 Pottery Workshop

Who is it for? This course is for Beginners and experienced Pottery learners. What will I learn? Existing Learners Intermediate and Advanced: Continue working on the projects already started, re-visiting and improving the knowledge and practical skills already acquired. New projects could include designing and making a moderate size mosaic to fit together for a tabletop or other surface, the use of molds or a former to make quick pottery items. Also an introduction to simple slip casting to make a mug or goblet. All these will be decorated and glazed accordingly ready for firing. To research and do simple experiments with materials to inform outcomes. New Learners: New learners will acquire a set of hand building clay techniques, to make specific clay artefacts. The course will also cover the importance of keeping clay workable, applied decoration, under glazes and glazing. Learners will develop their imagination and practical skills to produce clay items of their choice. An apron to protect your clothing Folder to keep handouts Pencil, pen, rubber, sharpener and note pad to record important information. What could I do after this? Learners undertaking this workshop can join other courses with RALSS or other Colleges or private organizations to build on the skills they have acquired. They can also gain pleasure from making pottery for friends and family. The course is delivered by Ms Jassy Bainse who is trained to degree level in Ceramics with Glass and is also an Art Therapist. She has been teaching for various organizations for over 25 years and has a breadth of knowledge and expertise to bring to the pottery course.
