UPDATED 20160322 17:58:37

The aim of this course is to prepare you to succeed on a Social Sciences Higher Education (HE) programme, if as yet, you do not have the required qualifications to commence a Higher Education course. You will develop the necessary knowledge and skills to write assignments and to be able to succeed in Higher Education. You will learn how to absorb, apply, analyse and evaluate knowledge from the field of Social Science. The core subjects that will be used to enable you to do this are ‘Psychology’, ‘Sociology’ and ‘Criminology’. While investigating these areas, other subjects from Social Sciences will be explored to provide a broader and more in-depth understanding of this area. You will also have the opportunity to explore your degree options and conduct research around a specific subject. Throughout the year you will be well supported by an enthusiastic team who are student-centred, and have positive links with our Higher Education partner institution - the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). There will also be many enrichment opportunities to help you gain a wide appreciation of subject content. The awarding body for this course is Ascentis.
