The hairdressing industry offers incredible potential for those seeking a creative and rewarding career. In the UK alone there are over 31,000 hairdressing salons, employing approximately 180,000 people. (Source: Hairdressing & Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA) UK). Career options are varied and include opportunities for self-employment, as well as work in hotels, hospitals/care homes, on cruise liners or for film, TV and photographic studios/sets. Responsible for cutting, colouring and shaping clients’ hair, hairdressers can also choose to specialise in a particular technique or with a specific client group – eg barbering or developing Asian or Afro-Caribbean hairdressing techniques. Accredited by City & Guilds (C&G) this programme is designed to develop the knowledge and skills required for a career as a professional hairdresser in this exciting and stimulating industry.

Name: Women's Hairdressing - Level 2 Diploma (C&G) Qualification title: Diploma in Women's Hairdressing (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment You will be continuously assessed by qualified staff. Training and assessment will take place in the College’s Image Academy commercial salons where you will work on a variety of clients (some of which you must find yourself) at a pace that meets industry requirements. Written theory work is part of this course and you should expect to undertake 30 to 50 hours of home study in order to complete coursework.
