If you are looking for a rewarding career, then training to become a Teaching Assistant is exciting, fulfilling and provides the unique opportunity to help support and inspire young children at the very start of their educational career. By combining practical experience with theoretical learning to encourage both understanding and the development of professional skills, this course supports the current Government initiative to develop the role of school support staff. Validated by NCFE, it provides a progression route for those who have completed an appropriate Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent, e.g. Child Care Learning & Development Level 2). The course aims to consolidate and enhance prior knowledge by further developing the skills and understanding required of a Teaching Assistant, whilst preparing you to support the teacher and the delivery of the curriculum within a school or early years setting. You will develop the skills to promote children/young people’s self-esteem, independence and skills for learning. Coupled with excellent tutor guidance and support, you will widen your knowledge of the curriculum, gain experience and enhance your role as a Teaching Assistant through work placement. It is expected that you will already be working with children in a classroom situation, either contractually employed or in a voluntary capacity.
