As part of the Foundation Learning offer, this course gives you an introduction to Horticulture. This is an excellent starting point if you are completely new to the subject. You gain a good working knowledge of horticulture by combining practical projects with some classroom based learning. You learn how to prepare soil, grow and care for plants, plant them out, maintain them and look after tools and machinery. You attend College three days each week and spend up to two days on a work experience placement. You learn skills which help you with your studies and getting a job, including Personal & Social Development. You can also gain important Functional Skills qualifications in Maths, English and ICT.
