This course will provide the training and experience required to work within the catering industry. This course is delivered by highly experienced and trained tutors/chefs through direct experience within the kitchen environment and theoretical classroom based sessions. The NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery is a vocational qualification which means that all the learning undertaken during the course are mainly practical cookery skills which reflect real work activities. College attendance required is one day per week for one academic year. This qualification can also be delivered in the workplace. This is an excellent course for those who wish to pursue a career as a successful chef and provides a clear progression route onto the Level 3.

Learners will also receive regular feedback/provided with targets in order to progress. Learner’s theoretical knowledge will be assessed through group work, questioning and portfolio building tasks. To achieve the full qualification learners will need to complete the portfolio which includes four mandatory units and a number of optional units which meet the 58 credits required.
