To improve co-ordination. Lead exercises for warm up. Bend legs well to place bowl on mat to roll smoothly along carpet. To use the wood in a controlled way. Be able to release the bowls to score points maintaining the bowls all within the area of play. To play in a tournament following rules needed to play Short Mat Bowls. To learn and to improve Basic skills: forehand, backhand, bowl bias, techniques for handling and releasing bowl. Game strategies. Scoring. Competitive play. Improved confidence and personal development.
